CAPTURING LIFE: DRAWING THE ZOOLOGICAL AND BOTANICAL WORLD

FLORE ET FAUNE: DESSINER LE MONDE ANIMAL ET VéGéTAL

Students will work on assignments as well as personal projects inspired by zoological and botanical reference materials. The course will allow individuals to explore different ideas and drawing techniques, focusing their attention on the present moment to promote mindfulness and mental well-being. Group discussions on the creative process are possible for those interested in sharing their ideas with others.

Thursdays 18:30 - 20:10 (except school holidays) at Athénée de Luxembourg, 52 units of 50 minutes, all levels, 234 euros

Information meeting at Lycée Athénée de Luxembourg on September 16th, 2024 between 17:30 and 19:30. The teacher will be present.

Goals

• Learning basic sketching techniques: line, shape, and shading

• Capturing the essence of nature through drawing

• Experimenting with pencil grades (B, 2B, 4B) for varied tonal values

• Practicing observational drawing as well as free drawing

• Exploring texture as a means of expression

Materials

• Pencils (B, 2B, 4B), pencil sharpener, eraser, color pencils, black fine liner, drawing paper (any format) or sketchbook, any other drawing tools (personal preference)

Taught in Luxembourgish, French, and English, depending on the needs of the participants.
